Building Pathways
to Independent Adulthood
Straight Arrow Horizons supports New Jersey young adults ages 18–24 as they transition toward stable housing, workforce readiness, financial independence and long-term self-sufficiency.
More Than Housing.
A Foundation for the Future.
Straight Arrow Horizons is a New Jersey 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young adults ages 18–24 successfully navigate the transition from foster care, housing instability and other challenging circumstances into independent adulthood.
Our approach combines housing stability, practical life preparation, workforce development and consistent mentorship so participants can develop the tools, confidence and accountability needed to build sustainable futures.
Our Purpose
We believe stable housing is the starting point—not the finish line.
Young adults also need opportunity, employable skills, financial knowledge, guidance and a realistic plan for independence.
Straight Arrow Horizons helps connect those pieces.Three Core Pillars
Our programs are designed around the areas young adults need most when preparing for successful independent living.
Housing Stability
Creating access to structured, safe and dignified living environments designed to promote stability, responsibility and preparation for independent housing.
Workforce Readiness
Helping participants pursue employment credentials, identification, professional documentation and practical preparation needed to enter and advance in the workforce.
Independent Living
Building skills in budgeting, financial responsibility, housing readiness, decision-making, accountability and long-term personal planning.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
The mission of Straight Arrow Horizons is to serve as a trauma-informed bridge for young adults ages 18–24 navigating the transition toward independent adulthood.
Through housing stability, workforce readiness, life skills and consistent mentorship, we help young adults build the foundation necessary for long-term self-sufficiency.
Our Vision
We envision a New Jersey where young adults leaving foster care or experiencing housing instability have a clear pathway toward stability, employment and successful adulthood.
Our goal is to develop a strong network of housing, community and workforce partnerships that gives young adults the opportunity to move forward with dignity, preparation and hope.
The Transition to Adulthood Should Not Be Faced Alone
Young adults leaving foster care and unstable living situations can face significant barriers to housing, employment, education and financial security. Early support can help prevent those challenges from becoming long-term instability.
Background Checks & Staff Screening
Straight Arrow Horizons is committed to maintaining safe, professional and respectful environments. Staff members working directly with participants undergo appropriate background and identity screening and are expected to comply with organizational confidentiality, safety and participant-protection policies.
Help Us Build the Next Path Forward
Straight Arrow Horizons works with community organizations, child-welfare professionals, landlords, employers, educators, donors and other partners who share our commitment to helping young adults achieve stability and independence.
